Well, I am going to share some war room strategies with you just like anyone doing battle needs a strategy!īut you, when you pray, go into your inner room and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination! I think you get it…ANYPLACE where you can get alone with the Lord can be your prayer closet to pray effective war room prayers! You can use your car during a lunch break at work! You can use a blanket outside in your yard under a tree.

  • A quiet place outside where you can be alone.
  • Now, you may not have a special closet you can devote to this (as I said, Miss Clara had a literal closet with prayers and notes all over the walls) but anyplace can be a war room! In order to stand against the enemy, you need to get on your knees and do battle in prayer! The point here is, Miss Clara was 100% right.

She says “In order to stand up and fight the enemy, you need to get on your knees and pray.” In this literal closet, Miss Clara does battle with the enemy on a massive scale!! In the process of touring the home, Elizabeth is introduced to Miss Clara’s closet a place she calls The War Room. In the movie, a woman, Elizabeth, who appeared to have it all in life (played by Priscilla Shirer) was going through marital difficulties (by difficulties, I mean her husband was on the verge of cheating and was just, well…he was a jerk to her).Įlizabeth is a realtor and she goes to visit a new client, Miss Clara, who wants to try to sell her home. In 2015, the movie War Room by the Kendrick brothers was released and was a huge hit! So now that you know what a watchman is, how do YOU set one? Well, you report to your war room for training! What is a War Room?Ī War Room is a place, a prayer room or closet, a corner of a room, anywhere really where you can go to be with the Lord in prayer and intercession for others and do battle against the enemy! Now Saul’s watchmen in Gibeah of Benjamin saw the throng scattering away in every direction. He had the ability to make his listeners face themselves in the light of what God was saying to them. Now the watchman stationed on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu’s troop approaching and said, “I am seeing a troop.” Then Joram said, “Take a horseman and dispatch him to meet them, and let him ask: ‘Is it peace?’” TLVĪnother example of a watchman would be 1 Samuel 14:16: Snyder, said of Tozer that his “preaching as well as his writings were but extensions of his prayer life. The Tozers had seven children, six boys and one girl. James L. He and his wife, Ada, lived a simple, non-materialistic lifestyle and let much of the royalties from his books go to those in need. Tozer moved to Toronto in 1959 and spent the final years of his life as the pastor of Avenue Road Church. For Tozer, “there was no substitute for knowing God firsthand.” He wrote many of his books with one idea in mind-that his reader would achieve the heart’s true goal in God and maintain that relationship with Him. A master craftsman in the use of the English language, he was able to write in a simple, cogent style the principles of truth he had learned. Through years of diligent study and constant prayer, he sought the mind of God. Self-taught, with no formal Bible training, Tozer has been called a twentieth-century prophet within his own lifetime. In 1950 he became the editor of The Alliance Life magazine and served in that capacity until his death.

In the 1940s Tozer was invited to speak at Wheaton College, and seldom a year passed after World War II that he didn’t preach in the college’s Pierce Chapel. During that time he preached on the Moody Bible Institute’s radio station. He transferred to the Southside Alliance Church in Chicago in 1928, and his ministry continued there for 31 years. After becoming an active witness of Jesus as a lay preacher, he joined The Christian and Missionary Alliance and was soon serving as the pastor of West Virginia’s Alliance Church, in 1919. At the age of 17, Tozer heard a street preacher, responded to the calling of Christ, and began his lifelong pursuit of God. His family moved to Akron, Ohio, when he was just a young boy. Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897-1963) was born on a small farm in what is now Newburg, PA.
